Bison Purity Guarantee
All Ozark Bisons are genetically tested to be free of cattle introgression based on all mitochondrial and nuclear microsatellite allele testing currently available at time of sale.
Ozark Valley Bison Ranch LLC warrants all bison sold to be free of all evidence of cattle introgression based on all mitochondrial and microsatellite nuclear tests commercially available at the time of sale. Specifically, animals are warranted to contain bison-type mitochondrial DNA and free of all 25 nuclear microsatellite alleles associated with cattle introgression. In addition, using a new under-development nuclear test looking at 10,000 suspected markers to create a cattle score, our bison all score less than a 1% likelihood of cattle introgression.
Purchasers may have their own testing performed, at their own expense, to verify the purity of any bison sold within 1 year of sale.
Any animal claimed to have evidence of cattle introgression based on mitochondrial DNA or nuclear satellite allele testing available at time of sale must present Ozark Valley Bison Ranch LLC with laboratory results performed by an accredited National laboratory. The laboratory results must identify the animal by its 18-digit ID and the sample for DNA testing (hair, blood, or other tissue) submitted to the laboratory) must have been obtained by and submitted for testing by a licensed veterinarian. Ozark Valley Bison Ranch reserves the right to have a follow-up test performed by a mutually agreeable laboratory and samples obtained through a mutually agreeable licensed veterinarian.
If any animal fails an introgression test and as a result is determined to be unsuitable for breeding purposes, the animal will be returned to Ozark Valley Bison Ranch LLC or a mutually agreed upon location with ownership of the bison reverting to Ozark Valley Bison Ranch LLC. A full refund of the purchase price will be issued to the buyer of record.
Ozark Valley Bison Ranch LLC will not provide a replacement bison that has failed subsequent DNA tests within the specified time and has been determined to be unsatisfactory for breeding purposes. The warranty is for full monetary refund only.
This warranty is valid for 1-year from the date of purchase and completely void thereafter
Breeding Guarantee
Ozark Valley Bison Ranch LLC (hereafter Ozark Bisons) warrants its breeding bulls to be physically sound (correct legs, frame and stature without injury) at the time of loading onto the transport to the buyer's location. Complete responsibility, risk of injury and/or death transfers to the buyer upon loading onto buyer's transport.
Ozark Bisons warrants fertility of its breeding bulls, defined as a bull having a reproductive tract free of anatomical and semen abnormalities with normal sperm morphology and motility for bison bulls of that age class, on the following conditions.
The buyers must fertility test purchased bulls at their expense within 6 months of the sale date by a third-party licensed veterinarian. If the bull fails the fertility test, Ozark Bisons must be notified immediately and copies of all tests, identifying the animal by his 18-digit ID, must be provided to Ozark Bisons.
A follow-up fertility test may be scheduled, at Ozark Bisons sole discretion, with and administered by a mutually agreed upon independent veterinarian within 30 days of the initial test or as otherwise mutually agreed. Any follow-up test, if deemed necessary by Ozark Bisons, will be paid by Ozark Bisons.
If the bull fails the fertility test(s) and as a result is determined to be unsuitable for breeding purposes, the bull will be returned to Ozark Bisons or a mutually agreed upon location with ownership of the bull reverting to Ozark Bisons. A full refund of the purchase price will be issued to the buyer of record.
If the buyer chooses not to fulfill the above conditions, Ozark Bisons does not warrant the fertility of any breeding bull and no refund will be given if later fertility tests are deficient. Ozark Bisons will not provide a replacement breeding bull that has failed semen tests within the specified time and has been determined to be unsatisfactory for breeding purposes. The warranty is for full monetary refund only.

Own a piece of Yellowstone
We are a small producer (60-75 head) that specializes in bison with genetically defined heritage and purity. We do extensive genetic testing on our animals to insure unique heritage, genetic diversity, and bison genetic integrity (purity). We guarantee our bison in writing.
All of our breeding bulls are of Yellowstone heritage and our bison cows have lineages that cluster genetically to the National Bison Range, Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge, Wind Cave National Park, Wichita Mountain National Wildlife Refuge, Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge, and Yellowstone National Park herds.
Due to inbreeding within the bison industry, we monitor the genetic diversity of our herd which averages 68.5%, far exceeding that of National and private conservation herds which average only 55-60%. We sell off all of our calves and do not allow any inbreeding, thereby insuring that all breeding stock animals we sell are genetically diverse.
Cattle introgression is a serious issue within the bison industry with most bison having evidence of cattle introgression (domestic cattle genes). We assembled our herd under a strict test-cull program to insure that our bison are free of cattle introgression. All of our bison are guaranteed in writing to have bison-type mtDNA and free of all 25 nuclear introgression markers. In addition, using a new nuclear test looking at 10,000 suspected cattle introgression markers, all our bison score less than a 1% likelihood of cattle introgression.
All new animals must pass our rigorous genetic testing criteria to become part of our herd. These tests include heritage, diversity, and cattle introgression assays. Otherwise they are culled.
/All our bison calves sold come with a written purity guarantee (no evidence of cattle introgression). Bulls, bull calves, bull yearlings, and 2-yr old breeding bulls all come with our breeding bull guarantee.

We select the animals to be sold during the month of June/July with notice on Facebook, our website, and through our mailing list.
